A lot has happened since June 1, 1985, when we walked down the aisle to say, "I do." There's been apartment living, Discovery, condo living, home ownership, job changes, baby girl, full-time to part-time employment, unemployment, working out of town, baby boy, seminary, baby girl, moving to Chesterfield, new church, UMC pastor, parsonage living, homeschooling, private schools, public school, graduates, off to college, college graduate, another off to college, grad school graduate.
Through all the changes, all the fun, the laughter, the angst, the uncertainty, I wouldn't want to spend these past 29 years with anyone but you!
Last Thursday, we decided the timing worked out that we could take a mini one night vacation to Williamsburg. We had a great time. It was a last minute decision that turned out to be a perfect get away.
Today we visited Berkeley Plantation. It was a fun tour and then to be able to walk the grounds.
I could have stayed seated on those benches all afternoon. The weather was perfect.
Seated on the banks of the James River was so peaceful.

What a gorgeous day!
Happy days!
Weeping Willow trees are so beautiful!
29 years and counting many, many more!
I would love to know more stories of the house. It was home to the Harrison family for many years. William Henry Harrison (9th President) was born here. It's the place of the 1st official Thanksgiving. What's sad is that many of the stories are unknown. I don't think any of the furniture in the house is original to the house. It was original to the 17th Century. The paintings of the Harrison family members displayed in the downstairs were reproductions. Benedict Arnold and his men destroyed much of the contents and portraits of the house during the Revolutionary War. The house was occupied by General McClellan and the Union army during the Civil War. The house was purchased in 1907 by John Jamieson, who was a drummer boy in McClellan's troops when they were stationed at Berkeley. The Jamieson family still owns the house.
It was a reminder to write as many of our family stories as I can. The story of our lives can easily be forgotten. Journals, blogs or whatever you use to document the story of your life is a blessing to your future generations.
What a perfect day for the two of you to take a break together. Congratulations on your life and love together! Here's to many many more!
